First session of the Joint Economic Cooperation Commission between the Afghanistan and Saudi Arabia held in Riyadh

Oct 08, 2018: The first sessions of the Joint Economic Cooperation Commission between Afghanistan and Saudi Arabia held in Riyadh.  The sessions was co-chaired by H.E. Mohammad Humayon Qayoumi, Acting Minister of Finance & Chief Advisor on Infrastructure to the President and Dr. Majid Bin Abdullah Al Qasabi, Minister of Commerce and Investment of Saudi Arabia.

The parties discussed strengthening bilateral cooperation in areas of trade, transit, economic, technic, transport, energy and extracting mines, attracting investment as well as implementing development projects.

 “The sessions will expand economic cooperation between the two countries and Afghan Side is ready to sign a trade agreement on the promotion and mutual support for investment,” said Dr. Mohammad Humayon Qayoumi, Acting Minister of Finance while appreciating generous assistance of Saudi Arabia. “The establishment of the commission between Afghanistan and Saudi Arabia would open a new chapter of strategic and economic partnership and strengthen trade and economic ties between the two countries,” he added.

It is worth stating that, Acting Minister of Finance on his official tripe to Saudi Arabia, for further strengthening trade and economic relations between the two countries, met with some high rank authorities and private sector of this country.
