A one-day workshop on Introducing new Equipment and Technologies for Infrastructure development held

Jan 08, 2019: A one-day workshop on “Introducing new Equipment and Technologies for Infrastructure development in Afghanistan” held at Khybar Hall- Ministry of Finance. The workshop began with opening remarks by Zahid Hamdard, Deputy Minister of Finance. 

Mr. Shahzad Aryoobi, Minister of Communications & Information Technology, Mr. Hashmatullah Ghafoori, Deputy Minister of Agriculture, Irrigation & Livestock, Mr. Eesa Qudrat, Deputy Minister of Rural Rehabilitation & Development, Dr. Shad Sargand, Chief Adviser to President on Research & Development for Infrastructure, Mr. Fraidon Alkozai, Director General of Survey and Project Development of Ministry of Public Works,  as well as representatives from private sector and other government officials participated in the event.

In the workshop, its objectives and background, assessments and plans needed for introducing new technologies, introducing the new equipment and technologies for infrastructure development in Afghanistan, the private sector demands, investment opportunities, and further coordination in this regard were discussed. 

Likewise, the participants breakout into 4 small group and discussed about the needs for new technology for infrastructure industry in Afghanistan, investment opportunities (Government, donors, PPP, foreign investment and etc.), Reforms in Govt. Sector to provide opportunities for introduction of new technologies and Capacity Building of Afghan Human Resource in Infrastructure industry.

It is a great pleasure that you have discussed and take practical steps toward it,” said Dr. Mohammad Humayon Qayoumi, Acting Minister of Finance and Chief Advisor on Infrastructure to H.E. the President, while stating the technical dimension of the issue.

It is worth stating that, the aim of this workshop is to identify new equipment and technologies needed for the development of infrastructure in a sustainable and economical way.
