Afghanistan Cricket Board asks the ICC for full membership

18 June 2017: Afghanistan has been making enormous progress in cricket over the past decade as an associate member. The government of Afghanistan believes it's time for Afghanistan to be recognized as a full member. This will open opportunities to the further development of the game and particularly in Afghanistan where cricket brings joy to a nation emerging from difficulties.

The members of Afghanistan Cricket Board (ACB) appreciate the effort and commitment of ACB toward establishing women cricket team. Considering the current situation and cultural and religious constraints, Afghanistan will also establish the women cricket in the near future.

It is worth mentioning that, International Cricket Council (ICC) is due to have a meeting this month and Afghanistan’s request full membership will be taken into consideration.
