Minister of Finance Participates at Wolesi Jirga Hearing Session

Today 16 April 2018, H.E. Eklil Hakimi, Minister of Finance, participated at Wolesi Jirga hearing session accompanied by Dr. Karim Baz, Deputy Minister of state for Parliamentary Affairs. The session was requested by MoF.

In the meeting, Minister of Finance provided MPs with enough information on increase in revenue in 1396, expenditure of development budget, reduced process of allotment form 4 working days to 1 working day, multi-purpose dams, national programs, regional cooperation and achievements of High Economic Council during 1396.

Additionally, Minister of Finance also gave information about regional cooperation, activities and role of public private partnership (PPP), reforms in customs and revenue sources and preventing state’s land squatter.
“Last year, the Ministry of Finance was able to receive 1.2 billion USD, 497 million Euros, 37 million CAD and 201 billion USD in the first quarter of 2018 from international community to finance the national priority development programs” said Minister of Finance.

“In 1397 the target revenue in national budget document is 169.5 billion and the IMF target is 172 billion AFN that fortunately Ministry of Finance managed to collect 47.5 billion AFN by 26 Hamal of this year showing 2 million AFN (4%) increase compared to this term of last year” he added.

Lastly, Minister of Finance assured MPs that the ministry, on behalf of government, is fully prepared for Geneva Conference which is going to be held on 27-28 November 2018 and negotiations are on.
