High Council for Infrastructure Discusses Roads Strategic Plan in its Technical Session
On February 19, 2020 the 7th technical session of the High Council for Infrastructure was chaired by H.E. Prof. Mohammad HumayonQayoumi, Acting Minister of Finance and Chief Advisor on Infrastructure Affairs to H.E the President.
In the session, the Ministries of Transport and Rural Rehabilitation presented their plans of prioritizing the National Roads Administration for the next five years; that includes national highways, ring roads and provincial roads. A five-year National Roads Plan for 1399- 1403including feasibility studies, survey and design of highways and roads, reconstruction and maintenance of highways, and restoration and reconstruction of bridgeswere discussed.
Likewise, the strategic plan for rural road reconstruction and maintenance, rural roads network and other relevant issues have been put forward by Ministry of Rural Rehabilitation and Development and were discussed. The relevant agencies have been instructed to include the members’ view and comments in their plans using regional countries’ experiences considering the geographic situation of Afghanistan and available capacities; and put the plan into operation after a necessary coordination with related organizations.
