Acting Minister of Finance Discussed Solving Transportation Projects Problems with the Acting Minister of Transport

H.E Arghandiwal, Acting Minister of the Ministry of Finance met with H.E Mohammad Yama Shams, Acting Minister and Director of Afghanistan Railway Authority on April 30.

In the meeting, both parties discussed about the Ministry of Transport’s projects supported and implemented by the Asian Development Bank; land acquisition projects’ problems; solving challenges of transport projects with the line-authorities, namely National Procurement Agency and Asian Development Bank.

Acting Minister of Finance emphasized that road construction projects’ implementation is vital, and each project should be reviewed for challenges. He asked for a tri-lateral meeting between the Ministry of Finance, Ministry of Transport, and the Asian Development Bank; and the contractors who do not follow contract should be treated according to law.

In addition, the Asian Development Bank has committed $1.15 Billion to the transport section, that gets paid every year to the government of Afghanistan
