Acting Minister of Finance Introduced 20 Major and Priority Project to President of the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank

H.E. Prof. Mohammad Humayon Qayoumi, Acting Minster of Finance and Chief Advisor on Infrastructure to H.E. the President, on the sideline of the 4th annual meeting of AIIB in Luxembourg, met Mr. Jin Liqun, President of the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank dated July 12, 2019.

In the meeting, the parties discussed fighting challenges of increasing poverty, a proper reaction to the negative economic shocks through the design and implementation of centralized programs in economic sectors to achieve economic self-reliance and balanced development across the country, creating job opportunities, funding major and priority national projects through easy loans and other important issues.

During the meeting, Acting Minister of Finance presented 20 major and precedence projects to the president of AIIB which the bank can fund some of them over the coming years.

At the end, the president of AIIB reiterated their commitment for funding Afghanistan important projects and it is decided that the bank send a technical team to Afghanistan t to evaluate and finance the major projects in the near future.

It is worth mentioning that, railway projects of 5 nation (Afghanistan, Tajikistan, Kirghizstan, Iran and China), hydropower dams and renewable energies, airports development including Hamed Karzai International Airports, hydropower dam in eastern provinces, fiber optic project via Wakhan Corridor, housing projects in major cities and Kabul ring road are among the requested projects of Afghanistan   to AIIB.
