Government Cut Tariffs on Hygiene Products due to Coronavirus Outbreak in the Country

On March 18, 2020 the Tariff Committee meeting was chaired by the Deputy Minister of Customs and Revenue, Mr. EisaQudrat, where representatives of private sector were present.In the meeting, reducing tariffs on foodstuffs, hygiene, and the seasonal items which are subject to seasonal taxes were discussed.

The meeting concluded that the customs tariff should be applied according to analysis of economic situations; and these analysis should be considered based on economic experts’ opinions.

The committee decided that in order to combat coronavirus outbreak, hygiene products (mask, sanitizers, etc...) should be tariff-free (zero tariff) for two months after being approved by the Acting Minister of Finance.
