MoU Signed for the First Phase of Water Supply Project of Districts 12 and 22 of Kabul City
On June 23, 2020, a memorandum of understanding for the first phase of water supply project of districts 12 and 22 of Kabul city was signed between Eng. Hamidullah Yalani, head of the Directorate of the directorate of Afghanistan Urban Water Supply and Sewerage Corporation (AUWSSC) and Mr. Nasratullah Yousofzai, head of Walid Yousofzai Private Water Supply Company in the presence of H.E. Abdul Hadi, Arghandiwal,Acting Minister of Finance.
The value of this project is 8 million USD; it willbe implemented in one year through public-private partnership. After implementing the first, second, third and fourth blocks of PPS, National Security and Municipality buildingsof these districts will be covered by water supply.
“The water supply project for districts 12 and 22 of Kabul city is a vital project; it meets the needs of Kabul citizens in accessing safe drinking water,” said H.E. Abdul Hadi Arghandiwal, acting Minister of Finance, during the signing ceremony. The Acting Minister of Finance pointed to the implementation of the project as a big step for Kabul citizen to have access to safe and healthy drinking water and declared his supportfor the project. He reminded relevant authorities to cooperate seriously in the implementation of this vital project.
Eng. Hamidullah Yalani, Head of Afghanistan Urban Water Supply and Sewerage Corporation (AUWSSC) thankedthe Ministry of Finance for implementing water supply project. “We presented the water supply project for district 12 and 22 in 1396 at the High Economic Council, and it was approved in 1398. Fortunately, today we are signing the contract for the first phase of the water supply project in the mentioned districts”, stated Mr. Yalani.
Mr. Nasratullah Yousofzai, head of Walid Yousofzai Private Water Supply Company ensured that we are committed to implementing the project properly and transparently; we will do our best to provide safe drinking water to the citizens.
The total value of the water supply project of districts 12 and 22 is 54.48 million USD. It will be implemented through Public Private Partnership. In addition, 535000 people will benefit with safe drinking water for 45 years with this project. Further, this project will be implemented and put into operation in three to four years from now.
