Acting Finance Minister and EU Ambassador to Afghanistan Met

On August 22, 2020, H.E. Abdul Hadi, Arghandiwal, Acting Finance Minister met with Mr.  Pierre Mayaudon, EU ambassador to Kabul.

Acting Finance Minister expressed his gratitude to the EU Ambassador for his efforts in expanding and strengthening bilateral relations, as well as the UE’s assistance in the financial and technical areas, especially infrastructures with the government of Afghanistan.

The EU Ambassador to Afghanistan expressed pleasure that the EU help with ensure security, promote and spread democracy according to which all citizensenjoy their basic rights.

In the meeting, Mr. Arghandiwal briefed the EU Ambassador on the fight against corruption at the government revenue sources. He indicatedthat ensuring transparency in revenue sources is one of the mutual commitments of the government of Afghanistan and the international community; we will implement these programs with full seriousness. Mr. Arghandiwal further elaborate on the measures and programs of the government of Afghanistan in mitigating effects of COVID-19 and economic self-sufficiency.

Further, the parties discussed and shared ideas on the 2020 development conference on Afghanistan. The Acting Finance Minister said that the government of Afghanistan is ready to hold the conference; relevant key documents have been prepared and shared with donors as well.
