Follow Up Meeting Held between Government Agencies and Donors to Prevent Coronavirus Outbreak

On March 10, 2020 a follow up meeting was held betweendifferent government agencies and donors, and chaired by H.E. Prof. Mohammad HumayonQayoumi, Acting Minister of Finance and Chief Advisor on Infrastructure Affairs to H.E. the President.Deputy Ministers of MoF, officials of government agencies, the World Bank, the Asian Development Bank (ADB) and World Health Organization (WHO) attended this meeting.
In the beginning, the Ministry of Public Health delivered a presentation regarding current situation of Afghanistan on COVID-19 outbreak, alongwith technical and financial needs in this regard.Then the Ministry of Hajj and Religious Affairs, and the Ministry of Information and Culture expressedpromptness to work with the Ministry of Public Health’s awareness program to prevent the spread of COVID-19. They will work to raise awareness through mosques and media.
Likewise, the donors assured of any technical and financial support to prevent COVID-19 outbreak in Afghanistan.

In the end, the Acting Minister of Finance instructed relevant agencies to work seriously in their respective areas and present their work progress report in the next week’s session. He also instructed the Ministry of Public Health and the Central Statistics Office to determine the population, danger areas and graphs of possible outbreaks of COVID-19.
