China to Provide Afghanistan theNecessary Equipment to Prevent Coronavirus Outbreak

H.E. Prof. Mohammad HumayonQayoumi, Acting Minister of Finance and Chief Advisor on Infrastructure Affairs to H.E. the President, met with Mr. Wang Yu, Chinese Ambassador to Kabul on March 22, 2020.

In the meeting, the Acting Minister of Finance expressed his gratitude for China’s willingness to help prevent coronavirus outbreak in Afghanistan. Further, he emphasized that China’s contribution to Afghanistan is vital at this point. He stressed that safe clothing and detection machines are among our priorities.

The Chinese Ambassador alleged that China will provide Afghanistan with 10.000 coronavirus test kit, 2 ventilator machines and 2 oxygen machines. He added that Alibaba Group will help Afghanistan with 10,000 Masks and 20.000 Coronavirus detection machines. Mr. Wang said we are pleased to understand your priorities and provide you with the equipment you need. He further added that Chinese experts have shared their experiences with the Afghan Ministry of Public Health during a video conference about Coronavirus prevention and treatments.

Additionally, the parties discussed exchange of customs information. The Acting Minister of Finance said that in order to combat tax evasion and avoid false customs declaration, Afghanistan would exchange customs data and information with China, which is one of Afghanistan’s important partners. This issue will help both countries in exports and imports.

Mr. Wang to discuss this issue with his country’s authorities.
