Acting Minister of Finance Attends the Islamic Development Bank 44th Annual Meeting

H.E. Prof. Mohammad Humayoun Qayoumi, Acting Minister of Finance and Chief Advisor on Infrastructure, and Human Capital & Technology to H.E. the President attended the 44th annual meeting of the Islamic Development Bank in Morocco. The annual meeting was conducted under the theme to have notable shifts in strategies and economic visions in order to achieve sustainable development goals.

High-level officials including Ministers of Finance of 56 Islamic countries, representatives of corporations and Non-governmental organizations also participated.

Prof. Qayoumi besides participating in the conference, separately met several high-ranking officials including Chairmen of Saudi Development Fund, Kuwait Development Fund, and the President of the Islamic Development Bank. In these meetings, Prof. Qayoumi briefed the development funds and the Islamic Development bank officials Afghanistan’s journey towards transformative change and economic self-reliance.

 

The Islamic Republic of Afghanistan has prepared a “Self-Reliance Accelerator Package” of $8.7 billion for investment in the agriculture and irrigation, urban development and housing, and energy transmission and distribution sectors.

In the meeting, Dr. Bandar al Hajjar, President of Islamic Development Bank insisted on the need to be constantly looking for new innovative ways for development. He congratulated Afghanistan for the comprehensive investment package, and assured of the Bank’s support and interested in investments in Afghanistan. He also called on all the member countries to consider investment in Afghanistan’s strategic projects.
