On Svep 23, 2021, Alhaj Mullah Hedayatullah Badri, Acting Minister of Finance of Afghanistan Islamic Emirate met with Scrap Metals’ Merchants and Craftsmen.

In the meeting, the merchants expressed their concerns on trading scrap metals to the Acting Minister of Finance, and asked the leadership at MoF to let them export the scrap metals and cancel its ban.

On the other hand, the craftsmen requested the Acting Minister of Finance that the export of Scrap metals should not be allowed under any circumstances because they have invested $500 million dollars and created jobs for over 4000 people.  They told the Acting Minister of Finance that the neighboring countries do not sell us scrap metals, so if all available scrap metals are exported from Afghanistan, our factories will be disabled.

The leadership of Ministry of Finance assured of any possible assistance to the merchants and craftsmen and added that no one be allowed to export and smuggle scrap metals out of the country. Afghanistan has currently about 40 huge steel mill companies that can make good use of them as they will be the major component of production and create jobs for a number of Afghans.
