Executive delegation of International Monetary Fund, has approved the request from Afghanistan Government for access to credit, with 220 million USD in amount.

This amount will have counted as emergency aid to Government of Afghanistan and can be spent in any priority.

The amount that is allocated to the Government of Afghanistan is long term easy loans without any principals. Afghanistan Government has to pay them back in 15 years. IMF aids will help Afghanistan to allocate its financial resources to eliminate adverse impacts of Coronavirus pandemic on the economy and funding public health priorities.

These financial assistance is possible as the Government of Afghanistan took special measures to control Coronavirus pandemic and mitigate its economic impacts. IMF has assured the government that they will continue their technical support to help throughout this pandemic.

MoF leadership expressed their sincere gratitude toward IMF for extending their support during these hard times.

It’s worth mentioning that Afghanistan has implemented six terms of IMF prescribed reforms successfully; thus IMF and Afghanistan government expressed their inclinations for the new credit facilitation.
