Afghanistan and Azerbaijan agrees to promote economic and trade cooperation

The first joint working group meeting on economic and trade cooperation between Afghanistan and Azerbaijan started yesterday, and after the technical discussions between the parties, today July 16, 2019 the protocol to promote and expand bilateral economic and trade cooperation between H.E. Prof. Mohammad Humayon Qayoumi, Acting Minister of Finance and Chief Advisor on Infrastructure to H.E. the President, and Mr. Sahib oghlu Mammadov, Deputy Minister of Economy of Azerbaijan has been signed.

In the meeting, the parties discussed increasing the volume of trade and strengthening the platform of mutual investment, cooperation and facilitation of Azerbaijan's export and import through the territory of Afghanistan to South Asian markets, Azerbaijan's investment in different sectors, development of mutual customs cooperation, purchasing Azerbaijan’s oil by Afghanistan through government to government mechanism, the two sides cooperation on transportation and information technology,  public services, higher education and other important issues were addressed.

It is worth mentioning that, the protocol, which has been signed today contains the subject matter of the meeting.

The Acting Finance Minister also went to the memorial of the late Heydar Aliyev, the former President of the Republic of Azerbaijan and Revolution Martyrs 1991, to pay his respects.
