Introduction

Directorate of Information Communication Technology operating under the General Directorate of Information Communication Technology and Systems at Ministry of Finance mainly focusing in the area providing data and voice services for MoF operations using highly-equipped data center, unified transmission system, and interconnected links via fiber and microwaves.

Directorate of ICT is providing reliable and secure platform for overall data and voice connectivity and access to MoF core application services in MoF HQs and sites.

Scope of Assignment

A wireless and System Expert responsibilities includes installing, configuring and maintaining wireless network equipment, network management and security including 802.11 b/g/n/ac standards and industry best practices for implementing high-density WIFI solutions and  Windows server, Wireless and System Expert needs to assess, plan and develop for several operations capabilities for wireless telecommunications and Systems.

The responsibilities and duties of a Wireless and System Expert include the following.

  • Devise, plan, deploy, and improve wireless networks from the beginning to implementation by collaborating with vendors, managers, and network engineers.
  • Understand Sites requirements to be able to cater to their appropriate needs.
  • Manage firewalls, such as Palo Alto, Cisco ASA.
  • Use tools to evaluate to test and tweak wireless products, such as routers, switches, hubs, bridges, virtual private networks (VPNs), and network amplifiers, among others.
  • Design and validate the performance, quality, and reliability of the RF link Such as Microwave, MikroTik, Airefiber.
  • Design and implement WLANs and other wireless networks.
  • Write manuals and document current network procedures.
  • Have extensive knowledge of routing protocols (OSPF, EIGRP, and BGP).
  • Make use of enterprise monitoring tools.
  • Optimize network performance by supervising performance, addressing network problems and breakdowns, and partnering with IT team to optimize the network.
  • Make sure that all equipment, including servers and the other network products, are well-connected.
  • Devise and support radio frequencies (RF) link performance, reliability, and quality.
  • Enable data and system protection by developing and maintaining mechanisms for backing up and retrieval.
  • Collaborate with different teams to ensure the optimized performance of VoIP and other wireless telecommunication devices.
  • Work with security team to evaluate threats, troubleshoot issues, and comply with appropriate security configuration standards of their organizations.
  • Design and deploy changes to the configurations of sites as per the applicable change management process.
  • Proactively handle all network security solutions.
  • Make use of testing and diagnostic tools to assess and modify equipment.
  • Serve as the technical liaison to all supported Sites.
  • Responsible to manage the core Wireless network and Point To Point.
  • Configuring and Managing Servers and troubleshooting
  • Preparing Network Diagrams and documentations
  • Configuring and Managing Wireless Controller
  • Configuring and Managing virtualization for servers
  • Performing Wireless Network Site Surveys
  • Produce Documentations and Reports
  • Collaborate with delivery teams to architect networking and security solutions in line with delivery capabilities
  • Manage and monitor all installed systems and infrastructure
  • Install, configure, test and maintain operating systems, application software and system management tools
  • Proactively ensure the highest levels of systems and infrastructure availability
  • Maintain security, backup, and redundancy strategies
  • Participate in the design of information and operational support systems
  • Handhold other in-house engineers to train them on wireless technologies, besides guiding other non-technical people

Required Qualifications

  • BS|MS Degree from any recognized university in the field of computer science, telecommunication, or information technology.
  • At least 5 years of related experience for master’s degree holders or 7 years’ experience for bachelor’s degree holders.
  • CCNA, CCNP, MSCE, PCSNE are compulsory
  • Minimum level of voice and CUCM knowledge will be preferred.
  • Knowledge of SUN storage system and virtualization will be considered more preferable
