Acting Minister of Finance and Canadian Ambassador Discuss Further Cooperation to Increase the Effectiveness of Canadian’s Aid to Afghanistan

On June 24, 2020, H.E. Abdul Hadi, Arghandiwal, Acting Minister of Finance met with Mr. Dave Metcalfe, Canada’s Ambassador to Afghanistan through a video conference.

In the meeting, the parties discussed further coordination to increase the effectiveness of Canadian Aid to Afghanistan; negative impacts of COVID-19 on peoples’ lives and economy of the country; challenges of the coronavirus outbreak. Further, creating a transparent and effective system at the Ministry of Finance to fight corruption; preparation for 2020 conference on Afghanistan which is scheduled to be held in Geneva co-hosting by Afghanistan and Finland and other relevant issues discussed in this meeting. Abdul Habib Zadran, Deputy Minister of Finance at Ministry of Finance, also attended the meeting.

The meeting was held to provide further coordination in the policy level between Afghanistan and Canada to increase the effectiveness of Canada’s Aid to the country.
