Acting Minister of Finance Participates in the Annual Meetings of Directors of International Monterey Fund Board (IMF) and World Bank

Oct 19, 2020, The Nominated and Acting Minister of Finance participated in the annual meeting of IMF board and the World Bank through a video conference.
The meeting was attended by officials and representatives of several countries, discussed on future of the global economy, the report of global economic stability, climate change, COVID-19 effects on the world’s economy, ways to fight and control the COVID-19 outbreak, and other relevant issues.
On the sideline of this meeting, the Acting Minister of Finance has met with Mr. Mitsuhiro Furusawa. Deputy Managing Director of IMF to discuss Afghanistan’s economic and financial progress, and the COVID-19 negative impacts on Afghanistan’s economy, Afghan government preparations for 2020- Geneva Conference and Attracting the attention of the international community to support and pledges to the three -year reform program of the Afghan government with IMF. The Deputy Managing Director of IMF expressed his satisfaction over the Afghan Government's attempts in fighting against COVID-19 and emphasized on expenditures transparency in this area.

Likewise, on the sideline of the annual meetings, the Acting Minister of Finance met with officials of Multilateral Investment Guarantee Agency (MIGA), discussed on the continuation of the agency’s cooperation in Afghanistan and the Geneva 2020 Conference which the Afghan government and the international community will discuss on development objectives for 2021-24, to coordinate development cooperation, to ensure financial support to Afghan administration and MEGA’s cooperation and support to the Afghanistan private sector and other relevant issues.
He said; support of the private sector and reaching self-reliance is one of the main priorities and objectives of the Afghan Government in ANPDF-2.
