Acting Minister of Finance: The principle of meritocracy and transparency should be considered in the Recruitment Process.
On Oct 20, 2020, H.E. Abdul Hadi Arghandiwal, the Nominated and Acting Minister of Finance and Mr. Sayed Hashmatullah Hashimi, the Commissioner of Independent Administrative Reform and Civil Service Commission (IARCSC) have met and discussed the process of competing vacancies offered by the Ministry of Finance.
At first, the commissioner of IARCSC thanked the Finance Ministry for announcing the vacant into a competition. He added that all competing positions of the Ministry of Finance should be ensured of transparency and meritocracy and a joint committee should be established in this regard.
The Acting Minister of Finance appreciated the IARCSC cooperation and support, said; our main focus should be on the customs section to ensure transparency and meritocracy and increase the government’s accountability to the people. He added that civil society and media should be involved in the examination process as supervisors to ensure transparency and accountability.
The Acting Minister of Finance; Ministry will prevent and not accept any pressure and intervention in the process and we have to provide enough transparency in this process. He added; currently, the Ministry of Finance has announced 9 key vacant (second-grade) positions of customs department and 77 vacant (third and fourth-grade positions) into a free competition.
In the end, both decided; the Media, Civil Society members, and experts should be part of the recruitment process as supervisors to ensure transparency and accountability.
