Bamyan Town Hall MeetingOn Public Engagement in National Budgeting
An advisory meeting has been conducted by the Ministry of Finance with the representatives of Bamyan to include the needs and priorities of this province into the 1400-budget plan.
In this workshop, besides the officials of the Ministry of Finance, several officials of the province; the deputy Governor and district governor of Bamyan province, head of Sectorial departments, members of the Provincial Council, members from the Ulema Council, the civil society, and several Bamyan residents have participated in the meeting.
At the beginning the deputy governor for Bamyan province said; We express our gratitude that the needs and priorities of Badakhshan people included in the national budget plan and we are witness of certain share has been considered for Bamyan.
“We appreciate the initiative of the Ministry of Finance to engage the people in the budgeting process. It is a good initiative and a start for our people to share their main needs and priorities with government through a direct meeting with government officials to include it in the national budget program,” he added.
The representative of the Finance Ministry has added; the Budget Coordination Committee for Development Affairs is already established and today this meeting is conducted to receive the people’s needs from different categories of Bamyan province. It was decided that the needs of the people to be prioritized per existing realities and wants. He added that strengthening the local government to ensure transparency and accountability, balanced development and growth, improving service delivery, achieving good governance, and allocating effective and balanced financial resources at the country level are the main elements of the government's strategic goals.
Strengthening the local governance in Bamyan province and proving good facilities and services is one of the milestones of the Afghan government and the goal of conducting this meeting is to accomplish the trust of the Bamyan people towards including and implementation of these projects which people asked for, said by SayedJawadHashimi- BamyanMostaufi.
Mr. Mahmoudi, Deputy Head of the Provincial Council, on behalf of the people of Bamyan, expressed his support for the government's advisory meeting with the people and said Bamyan people have so many problems, hope that the authorities will pay attention and cooperate.
An informative presentation on the project has delivered by the technical team of the Ministry of Finance, after; each district has specified their needs and wants and submitted to officials of the Ministry of Finance.
