First Quarter Review of Asian Development Bank Projects in Afghanistan

Ministry of Finance leadership and the Asian Development Bank (ADB) reviewed ADB’s projects for Afghanistan in the first quarter of the FY-1399.
The aim of this review was to evaluate project performance and compliance with its financial agreement, report on project impact; andproject results in accordance with ADB partnership strategy. Further, evaluate implementation of previous review measures, identify and resolve systematic problems affecting project implementation and identify strategic problems related to assistance and project effectiveness were discussed.
The Asian Development Bank (ADB) currently has 26 major projects with total cost of $3.2billion in the sectors of transport, energy, agriculture and natural resources, implementing by the Ministry of Agriculture, Irrigation and Livestock, Ministry of Transport, the National Bureau of Water Affairs and Da Afghanistan Bershna Sherkat.

The reviews were conducted from March 5th to 16th, during numerous technical meetings with the participation of ministries and implementing agencies and technical teams from the Ministry of Finance and ADB. Decisions were made to improve project implementation.The Ministry of Finance will coordinate with relevant departments and ministries to implement these decisions.
