The International Community Commends the Afghan Government’s Reform Efforts at Geneva Conference

Nov 28, 2018: H.E. Dr. Mohammad Humayon Qayoumi, Acting Minister of Finance and Chief Advisor on Infrastructure to H.E. the President and Mr.  Tadamichi Yamamoto, UN Secretary-General's Special Representative for Afghanistan and head of the UN Assistance Mission in Afghanistan, Jointly led Geneva Conference in presence of Foreign Ministers of 62 countries and representatives of 35 International Organizations.

In the meeting, all foreign ministers and representatives of International Organizations spoke for 2 to 3 minutes.

The participants commended the Afghan Government’s reform efforts on anti-corruption, strategy of the country for economic growth and development, regional connectivity, peace process, progress toward democracy and election and resolution of drought and famine.

They also stated that Afghan Government continues to fight against corruption and takes great steps for sustainable growth and respond rapidly to the drought and famine.  The participants has also committed to continue their support for Afghanistan to become an active, peace-loving and permanent member of International Community.

In the meeting, representatives of civil society also talked about progresses made so far and the way government responded to them.
