National Housing Policy Reviewed
The honorable Minister of Urban Development and Land, Mohammad Jawad Paikar, and his working team presented the National Housing Policy to H.E. Prof. Mohammad Hamayoun Qayumi, Acting Minister of Finance and Chief Advisor on Infrastructure to H.E. President Ashraf Ghani.
The policy is drafted to formalize and standardize the housing sector of the country. The policy aims to transform the housing sector as one of the economic growth accelerators, attract public-private partnership, lower the housing costs, put state owned lands to effective use, and regularize privately build residential towns in addition to the many more valuable objectives of the policy.
After the presentation, H.E. Minister Qayumi provided his guidance on the insurance, housing finance, legal side, attracting private investment, and the public-private partnership and other important aspects of the policy.
The next steps are to present the policy after adjusting H.E. Minister Qayumi input to the Urban Development High Council, and the Cabinet for approval.
The meeting was also attended by honorable Mayor of Kabul, deputy head of Administrative Office of the President, and head of the Technical and Vocational Education and Training Board of Afghanistan.
