World Bank approved 200 Million USD Grant to the Afghanistan Government

On June 9, 2020, the Executive Board of the World Bank approved 200 Million USD grant to the government of Afghanistan. The purpose of this grant is to counter the negative socio-economic effects of Coronavirus in Afghanistan.

The World Bank represents the International Development Agency, and the Afghanistan Reconstruction Trust Fund that represents 34 donor countries; 100 Million USD of this grant is from IDA, and the other 100 Million USD is from the ARTF.

The aim for this grant is that the government of Afghanistan spend it on strengthening policies, recovering economy, as well as improving infrastructure, health services, and information technology.

It is worth to mention that this grant will be spent according to the priorities of the government through the national budget.
