Acting Minister of Finance Separately Meets Wolesi Jirga Members to Discuss FY-1398 budget Midterm Review

H.E. Prof. Mohammad Humayon Qayoumi, Acting Minister of Finance and Chief Advisor on Infrastructure to H.E. the President, separately met Wolesi Jirga Members to Discuss FY-1398 budget midterm review today July 30, 2019.

In the meeting with Wolesi Jirga’s financial and budget commission, the parties emphasized on having a transparent and effective national budget, there should be coordination between Ministry of Finance and Wolesi Jirga.

In a separate meeting, in which members of Wolesi Jirga were present, Acting Minister of Finance provided information about the changes made in the ordinary and development budget in the midterm review.

Acting Minister of Finance assured the MPs that their proposals and comments would be included in the national budget in the lights of law and available resources.

Additionally, in a separate meeting with Mohammad Azim Mohseni, head of Financial and budget commission of Wolesi Jirga, both sides discussed implementation of reforms in financial sector with the assistance of Wolesi Jirga and continued reforms process, including projects in the national budget documents that will help Afghanistan's economic self-sufficiency, legal oversight of wolesi Jirg from government works and activities and other important subjects.

Head of Finance and Budget Commission of WJ said that oversighting government activities are one of Wolesi Jirga’s legal competencies and emphasized that WJ will help government in this regards.
