Acting Finance Minister Meets Italian Ambassador to Kabul

KABUL Oct 27, 2020 – Acting and Nominated Finance Minister Abdul Hadi Arghandiwal met with the Ambassador of Italy to Kabul Mr. Vittorio Sandalli. This meeting was attended by, Mr. Giovanni Grandi- Head of the Italian Agency for Development Cooperation in Afghanistan.

Initially, Mr. Ambassador reaffirmed Italy’s support for the Afghans and the government of Afghanistan and will continue and develop good relationships among two nations, during his mission as ambassador. Added; we are ready to renew our financial commitments in the 2020 Development Conference on Afghanistan, to help and stand with the Afghan people.

Head of the Italian Agency for Development Cooperation in Afghanistan, said; As a partner of Finance Ministry, we will continue our cooperation with Afghanistan and added; the 2020- Conference is important and vital for Afghanistan and Italy has the plan to use majority if its aids towards the Afghanistan National Budget. Strengthening the private sector, agriculture sector, Afghan women's empowerment, and regional connectivity are the elements which are important to Italy; Said Mr. Giovanni Grandi

Mr. Arghandiwal; welcomed and thank the Italy government and representatives for their considerable works done in various fields and different parts of Afghanistan. And Government of Afghanistan especially the Finance Ministry is hoping to continue and expand the good cooperation between the two nations, during your mission as ambassador. We have a plan to strengthen the private sector, agriculture sector, Afghan women's empowerment, regional connectivity, and combat corruption; said Mr. Arghandiwal. 

He has welcomed the adjustment of Italian Aid through the National Budget Document and the renewal of its financial commitments to the Genera Conference and call it good news.
