A press conference was held at the Government Media Center on May 21st, 2020 to address this. The spread of coronavirus and quarantine in the country has halted the biometric process for retirees. We understand that we currently are in a tough situation, and after we held meetings with the Council of Retirees to discuss the current situation the retirees are in,the government and the Ministry of Finance has decided to pay their pensions in the next four to five months, said Mr. Mohammad Omar Durrani, Director General of Retirement Fund.
The purpose of paying these pensions without the new biometric process is to help them deal with their problems in the current situation, since these pensions might be their only source of income, Mr. Durrani added.
